Hi! My name is Teresa. I am a nurse, an aspiring theologian, a recreational spikeball player, an idea generator– and doing all as a follower of Jesus.
Sometimes theology – the study of God – is something that is left to a handful of intellectual elites. However, I don’t think this should be the case. Considering that God is the creator of all things, the source of all knowledge and wisdom, it would seem rather foolish for anyone not to study Him. It may look different for different people, but across the board, it makes sense to go to the source of knowledge for knowledge and the source of wisdom for wisdom, right?
I was contemplating naming this blog “think theological” or something around those lines to promote and normalize this study of God, but it hit me that the one thing that would be equally, if not more foolish than not studying God, would be studying Him, but then not living according to the knowledge and wisdom gained. The only logical thing to do for any human would be to dedicate significant time to studying and getting to know the all-wise and all-knowing creator and then to reshape one’s perspective, actions, and entire lives around whatever is learned.
So instead of Think theological I wanted to name it Be theological. I wanted to emphasize that the study of God should not be just an intellectual activity– not something to just sit around, think about and discuss– but something that transforms the way we live. Let’s get to know God and allow Him to impact the way we work, our relationships, the way we raise children, the ideas we generate, the ambitions we have, the way we play spikeball, and the way we worship.
